Yestersay, after receiving an invitation, I signed up for the beta version of Socialthing!
Socialthing! is a sort of pseudo lifestream, allowing you to track your ‘digital life’ in one place by adding feeds from various social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Last.fm.
In essence, Socialthing! is a very good idea and I expect that it will become a very popular tool as people are increasingly spreading their digital life over a number or sites/profiles. Any tool that allows you to track you and your friends updates/actions in one place is on to a winner in my eyes.
Socialthing! is only in private beta testing at the minute so I hope they to add a lot more features before unleasing it to the public. The layout is OK but nothing amazing. Maybe they could make some improvements here as it can look quite busy if you start tracking your friends as well as well. However, my main gripe is that it currently only allows you to track a number of preset feeds - There’s not currently an option to add custom RSS feeds which would be nice. Either that or increase the sites available in the preset list.
I’ll keep an eye on the developments with this but at the moment I don’t think it can match this Tumblr blog in terms of usability.
If anyone’s interested, you can track developments on the Socialthing! blog too.
